Bouchard Père & Fils
Racy, elegant, harmonious, Clos Vougeot is very deep in colour. The nose reveals complex aromas of spice, red berries typical of Pinot Noir (blackberry, blackcurrant) with a slight touch of wood, evolving in time towards more animal notes (fur, musk). A masculine wine, which reveals amplitude, elegance and remarkable persistence on the palate.
Wine Advocate
Notes of tallow, charred meat, and blackberry rise from the glass of Bouchard’s 2005 Clos Vougeot crafted from purchased fruit. Broad and expansive, rich, substantial and creamy in texture on the palate, this displays impressively concentrated black fruit, meat, and savory, soy-like essences and a solid finish. It ought to repay at least 8-10 years in the cellar, although one must add that a track record cannot yet have been established for the quality of wine that Bouchard Pere & Fils has begun crafting of late.
Score: 89-91. —David Schildknecht, June 2007.For older wine vintages, we make every effort to ensure that the wines are in top condition. It is Moe's Fine Wines' policy as well as the industry standard, that wines that are five years or older are purchased at the buyer's risk.
