Kongsgaard
The Judge Chardonnay 2006 Napa Valley has the startling expression of minerality and fruit for which this Chardonnay, grown on our family land, has gained its reputation. The remarkable length of the finish must have to do with the naturally miniscule yield of this rocky vineyard planted on land that was originally purchased by our family in the 1920s as a rock quarry site. The exceptional 2006 Judge stands out for its intense energy, depth, and uncannily long finish. Fans of White Burgundy will love this extravaganza.
Wine Advocate
The 2006 Chardonnay The Judge is one of the vintage’s more compelling examples of this varietal. Like its siblings, it is aged 22 months in French oak (mostly new), and is bottled with no clarification. The Judge represents a selection of the finest barrels and is an homage to Kongsgaard’s father. It exhibits more white peach, pineapple, and tropical fruit characteristics as well as a steely minerality, full body, and more power than the regular cuvee.
Score: 93. —Robert Parker, December 2008.For older wine vintages, we make every effort to ensure that the wines are in top condition. It is Moe's Fine Wines' policy as well as the industry standard, that wines that are five years or older are purchased at the buyer's risk.
