Montebuena

Brilliant deep ruby red color, fruity aromas. Montebuena Red has a spicy vanilla bouquet and is smooth and fruity in the mouth with some well-integrated secondary nuances, full-flavored and a persistent pleasant finish.

Wine Spectator

This red is light-bodied, yet shows intensity, with vibrant cherry, kirsch, vanilla and leaf flavors and lively acidity. Nicely focused and seamless through the finish. Drink now through 2015.

Score: 87. —Thomas Matthews, June 15, 2012.

Wine Advocate

The 2009 Montebuena is 100% Tempranillo fermented and aged in stainless steel. Spice box, lavender, black cherry, and blackberry are some of the elements forming the bouquet of this value-priced Rioja. Nicely balanced and concentrated, it will provide enjoyment over the next 3-4 years.

Score: 87. —Jay Miller, June 2011.

Wine Enthusiast

Warm, jammy and lightly herbal smelling, with an overriding aroma of blueberry compote. Fairly full and concentrated on the palate, with herb-infused flavors of dark berry and plum. Plump, warm and chewy on what amounts to a solid finish.

Score: 86. —Michael Schachner, December 15, 2011.
